About Us

Hi!  I’m Brandi Bauer, and I own LB Lane.  I live in Levant, Maine with my husband Mike and our daughter Lucy.  I’ve known Mike since high school in the early 2000’s when he sat next to me in French class at the beginning of my sophomore year.  We developed and maintained a friendship for nearly 10 years before our relationship evolved into a romantic one.  We welcomed our daughter in 2017 and now it’s hard to believe she ever wasn’t here with us.

The origin of LB Lane begins long before the name came to fruition.  In 2016, I had been miserable at my job for a year.  With the support of my husband, I took the most terrifying leap of my life when I decided to leave a steady job and open a boutique to work for myself.  My last day at my job was the end of May in 2016, just a few weeks after our wedding.

We knew we wanted to start a family and along with my job making me unhappy, both the hours and commute were long.  I knew it wouldn’t allow me to be as present as I hoped to be as a mother.  What timing for making the job change because in June of 2016, I found out I was pregnant!

Thanks to being self employed as a boutique owner, I have never known a life where I have to wake up and leave my daughter to go to work each morning.  Running a boutique out of our basement while trying to maintain work/life balance is a challenge, but I wouldn’t want to trade it for anything.

Initially, the boutique was called The Be Me Boutique, but as I have grown and evolved through motherhood, so has this business.  As Lucy has grown, she started to take more of an interest in what “mama” does.  She started school in 2021 and when we asked her what she wanted to do for a job when she grew up (to put on her first day of school board) she melted my heart with the answer “work with mama.”

At the same time Lucy was starting school, I was still riding the pandemic wave that so many other small businesses were riding.  Some months, business was booming.  Other months, I was wondering if I would bring in enough to cover the monthly expenses.  In the lowest of low times, Lucy provided me with comfort and the drive to keep fighting to hold onto my dream.  She’s too young to realize it, but she is the reason I haven’t given up.

As I find her sneaking downstairs more frequently to say hi and “help” mama….(in other words- steal my chair, my desk, my computer, and sometimes take over my live sales), I feel a sense of pride for how my daughter sees me and what I do.

That has revived my passion for this boutique owner life.

THAT is how LB Lane was born.  Feeling the refresh within didn’t feel like enough.  I needed to make a gesture that would make this rejuvenation more official.  I decided it was time to revamp this brand and give it an overhaul that feels true to the woman I am today.  I am a hard-working mother running a small business out of a basement in a town with no traffic lights.  I am a one-woman operation!  I wear all the hats of this business.  I am a wife with the most supportive husband ever.  My family believes in me when I stop believing in myself.  My daughter sees something in me that I don’t see in myself and whatever she sees, she likes so much that she wants to do what I do when she grows up.  LB stands for Lucy & Brandi.    LB also happens to be Lucy’s initials- Lucy Bauer.  LB Lane is my every day reminder of why I get up every day and do what I do.

What I do is try to create a community where women of all shapes, sizes & ages can find pieces of clothing that will make them feel like their most confident and authentic selves.  When I pick out pieces, I look for quality, versatility, affordability, and simplicity.  My goal is to spend time picking out these things so that YOU can spend less time doing that and spend more time with your family, just as you supporting my business allows me to do.

Thank you for visiting LB Lane.

Come for the clothes, stay for the community.
